My experience #bookblogging as a newbie

Wow, from the moment I first started this blog I had no idea that I could fall in love even more with reading but yes it is possible. I discovered this wonderful world of book blogging via Twitter, Blogger, Wordpress, Goodreads and discovered #booktubers on Youtube. The world of #bookblogging has its own terms, veterans, events ect. I have been learning all the things that are involved in book blogging and have to admit that it has been intimidating to learn all about book tours, book cover reveals and so many things that come with it. 

I have discovered amazing blogs from average people who like me love reading and are passionate about what they are doing. I won't lie and say that visiting some of these blogs has been intimidating since they have been around longer and usually have a long list of loyal fans following every post they make. However on Twitter I have kept coming across one very important idea that every blogger should know:

This is not a competition, there is enough space for all of us.

I'm taking that little saying to heart and know that I can only learn more about others whether it be about posts, book review style, or blogging overall. What I love about most is that everyone has their own unique style of blogging which represents just how different all of us readers really are. Some of us are going to like something completely different than others and we are all going to find a certain blogger we can relate to. What fun would it be if everyone is the same? The same applies to blogging.

As a newbie I've learned that there are so many different ways you can blog about a book, author, tour ect. While I'm still learning about doing all of this I'm so excited for the challenge of discovering even more things when it comes to reading. We are all a community of book lovers and we truly can all help each other if we lend a hand and help the next fellow blogger. 

I won't pretend like I know what I'm doing half the time I will continue to go with my gut feeling and write what I want to at the time. There are no rules in book blogging you write what your heart feels like letting out and hope others will enjoy your content as much as you enjoyed writing it.

What sites like Wattpad have given the youth

I'll never forget the day I discovered Reddit, I could not believe the amount of information made available for free! I was dumbfounded at how many ideas, stories, pictures ect could be shared and obtained with the simple click of a button. One of the things that I discovered on Reddit was the amazing writing subreddits dedicated to all writers, novelists, bloggers, and so forth. At the time I was looking for a place to write and share short stories for free without the hassle of too many sign up requests.

I remember finding one particular post which asked just that: what are good sites to publish stories on? I eagerly clicked it and found myself reading a short answer about Wattpad. Now I know that Wattpad has gained fame by many of its werewolf, high school, 1D fan-fic romance stories however once I signed up and browsed for a bit I noticed that there were actually quite a decent amount of well written stories. It is amazing for me to come across a well written novel from a fifteen year old, it is no wonder the popularity of Wattpad has skyrocketed most authors on the site are kids who need a place to share their creativity.

Wattpad is a great tool for new beginners to write and share a story without having to go through all the unnecessary hazards that many authors go through when barely starting. The site has given teens and preteens a way to take out their frustrations, daily life problems, relationship problems or dreams. We need more sites like these where sharing is one of its fundamental goals, however many adults have difficulty finding a place to share their writing. Finding a place to share thoughts and write stories that have long since accumulated dust in journals is a scary thing however with due time it will be a wonder why we didn't start sharing and publishing stories sooner.

The internet has opened up a world that previously before only the rich and powerful got to enjoy. We not only are able to communicate and learn from people all around the world, the sharing of ideas, products, information has spread like wildfire. New methods such as ebooks, blogs, social media are allowing people to express themselves better.

Writers are given the chance to share their works and reach out to readers easier without the need of having a big traditional publisher. Indie publishers have given writers the chance to publish their works at a low cost and has given everyone an equal opportunity to become a succesfull writer.

Websites such as Wattpad has given a population [preteens, and teenagers] previously overlooked at by many adults the chance to WRITE, and SHARE their creativity. It may be that perhaps there were always this many writers however the only difference is that now we ALL have the means to express ourselves and share our creativity.

It is important to inspire and motivate the younger generation about the importance of writing and to give them the necessary tools so that they can start developing a love of writing. I am a dedicated reader just as much as I am dedicated to my writing; both things go hand in hand. However I promote motivating children/pre-teens/teenagers to also write as well as read because it sparks creativity that needs to come out. This is.....
